Abstract truth's a fine thing

It's high as any sky

But love lives on the sad earth 

It's needed more than the proud answer to each and every why


Philosophy's a strong thing

Truth dispels every lie

But poetry's a kind thing 

It shows us how to cry 


The mind's a star thing 

To reach it we must fly

But the heart walks on the earth 

It's here where plain feet try


Wisdom is a high thing 

All reverence it is due

But compassion is an equal thing 

To shared humanity it's true
